Oriental Stencils: Female FU DOG (Two Layers)
Imposing Fu dogs (stylized lions) statues are placed at the entrance of important buildings to guard the grounds and the people within. This female Fu Dog stencil is portrayed playing with a lion cub representing nurturing and the cycle of life - (the male with an orb completes the yin-yang balance of protection.) This female Fu dog is based on one guarding the Yonghe Temple in Beijing. This temple is the most renowned Tibetan Buddhist Temple outside of Tibet. When entering this Temple visitors are given joss sticks to burn. The air surrounding the grounds and buildings is highly scented as a result.
